Today I just wanted to share a little bit of my own story with you. Growing up in Spain I always exercised and realised that it’s vital for my mental health. Exercising makes me feel less vulnerable and helps to give my mind clarity. When i was 38 I had my second knee operation (1st one when i was 13), total knee reconstruction- all my ligaments, meniscus and cartilage. That’s the reason why I still avoid running or doing the Spartan race! I had to learn to walk again. For me it’s all about being aware of my limitations, and adapt your training etc. It doesn’t mean you have to stop! The power of the mind is incredible and was key in my rehabilitation. Positivity and belief helped me to recover, and are now 2 core concepts when I train my clients. How to goblet squat: Stand with your feet positioned just a tad wider than your shoulders. With a kettlebell, grab the “horns” – the side of its handle. As I approach nearly a near at the studio I really am feeling so lucky to have found something that not only I absolutely LOVE, but for you all keeping me so busy and making my job never feel like work 🙌🏾 . . . I wanted to share a little transformation with you all, just 3 weeks between these pics girls (and yes, the left pic was 5.30 am before leaving for work, so it was a quick roll-up-pjs job 😂🙈). Anyway the point in my post is you can achieve anything you put your mind to. I’ve been eating on a strict calorie limit, making sure I hit daily protein goals and training 5x per week sometimes twice a day. If you work for it and believe in yourself you CAN and WILL achieve it girls. . . Structure 📋 Is it something you have or is it something you feel you need more of in your weekly routine? 🤨 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I speak about structure a lot because it’s something I absolutely need in my life to get shit done and if I’m being completely honest if I don’t have structure in my own life I become the king of procrastination and I leave things for weeks let alone days 😅 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ People who I coach are in exactly the same situation with the gym. They don’t know when they should be going, what they should be doing or even if it’s right for what they want to achieve, which inevitably leaves them feeling lost and confused and more likely resenting going 🤦🏻‍♂️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But when you actually start to create structure in your week, when you know what exercises you should be doing to improve, you know what and when to eat to see definite changes in the mirror, the rest of your life starts to work better as well as you apply the same methodology 🙏🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You know you’ve done everything in the week to make movements physically and progress. Enjoyed one too many pints yesterday for the Rugby. Here’s some ways you can drink alcohol & keep on top of your goals: 1. If you’re like me & currently have no specific date/event to train for, drink what you want, relax & make sure you’re able to get back on top of things the following day. 2. Track your calories. Reduce the amount of food you’d usually eat to make way for the alcohol calories you intend to consume. (Make sure you keep your protein as high as usual though as this is the most important macro in terms of maintaining muscle). 3. Reduce the damage, opt for lesser calorie alcohol choices (Coors Light, Bud Light, Spirits with DIET tonics). 4. Accept the fact that wherever you’re from, Wales are officially the #1 Team in the world now so you should drink anyway! 🍻
