Hong Kong saw 3 days of peaceful protests after 11 weeks of violent clashes between protestors and police. On Sunday, August 18th, march organizers claimed 1.7 million people attended the peaceful march. Hong Kong citizens are demanding a complete withdrawal of the controversial extradition bill that would allow Hong Kong people to be tried in Mainland China, appoint an independent commision into brutality and accustions of collusion with organized crime known as Triads, total recall of the riot accusations against protestors, and free and drop all charges against protestors, and implementation of universal sufferage. The phrase an “An Eye For An Eye”, is now the symbol of the protests, as one female protester was hit in the eye by a bean bag round shot by riot police. She is in tensive care and may lose the eye.
